27/05/2016 · SPMC is an unofficial fork of Kodi for Android created by Team Kodi developer Koying. While technically unofficial, it contains various "experimental" fixes and settings that can sometimes help users when the normal Kodi for Android doesn't work on their specific hardware, and is sometimes used to test new or exprimental features and functions. That Kodi/SPMC can't find Windows shares automatically isn't something specific to the Shield, and as long as you don't have some network issue then manually adding the shares works fine. I can't remember which earlier firmware it was (I thought it was 2.1 but my memory ain't what it used to be) but manually inputting shares didn't work with any OS with SMB3.
